Generaldescription
Thismulti-bedsolidphaseextraction(SPE)cartridgewasdesignedforthecleanupofextractsofdifficultmatricessuchasdrycommodities(tea,spices,coffee,etc.)priortopesticideresidueanalysis,typicallyperformedbyGC/MSMSandLC/MS/MS.Thesetypesofsamplescancontainpigmentsandoils,andmaynotbesufficientlycleanedusingastandardQuEChERScleanup.
ThetopbedconsistsofamixtureofPSA/C18andagraphitized,sphericalcarbon.PSAremovesacidicinterferences,C18retainssomehydrophobicinterferences,andcarbonremovespigments.Thevarietyofcarbonusedinthiscartridgewasengineeredtoremovesufficientpigmentationwhileallowingforbetterrecoveriesofcompoundswithplanarstructures.ThebottombedofthecartridgecontainsZ-Sep,whichisazirconia-coatedsilica.Z-Sepremovesoilyresidues,andprovidesadditionalpigmentremoval.
ThecartridgecanbeusedforcleanupofacetonitrileextractstobeanalyzedbyeitherGCorHPLC.
