Analysis Note
The PT sample is a soil containing a cyanide. A fortifying spike and a blank soil are provided. The soil has been chemically stabilized to minimize degradation of the sample. The PT sample has been sized to 100 mesh. Required storage condition is 4º C.
Sample Preparation
The soil is to be extracted and analyzed using an appropriate method for analyzing total and/or reactive cyanide. Weight 25g of the blank soil and place in extraction vessel. Open ampule and add 1mL of solution directly to the blank soil. The sample is now ready for immediate analysis. On the report form, list the determinative technique used for analysis of this sample. In addition to all requested information, note any unusual problems encountered in the extraction or analysis of the sample on the report form. Report results based on 25 g of soil.
Screening Instructions: Screen sample according to your normal method. Report as a "<" or ">" and your screen concentration on the report form.
General description
This proficiency testing sample is produced in accordance with ISO/IEC 17043:2010. All information regarding the use of this material can be found in the reporting packet supplied for each sample.
Other Notes
Proficiency testing samples are presented as single blind. No values for the samples are released until the testing period concludes. Values of analytes vary lot to lot.
